In clinical studies of patients with schizophrenia, GEODON significantly improved
positive and negative symptoms. At the end of a 1-year study, patients who took
GEODON were also shown to have less chance of symptoms returning.
Positive symptoms may include:
- Hearing voices, seeing things, or sensing things that are not there (hallucinations)
- Believing things that are not true (delusions)
- Unusual suspiciousness (paranoia)
- Becoming withdrawn from family and friends
Negative symptoms may include:
- Flat affect (reduced ability to express emotions)
- Social withdrawal
- Lack of motivation
